Francisco Lorenzo was born in Mar del Plata, province of Buenos Aires, in 1978.
He began his studies in private academies and in the Ballet de Cámara of his hometown, until he entered the Instituto Superior of Art of the Colón Theater.
He danced for the residence Ballet of Colon theater during the 1996 and 1998 seasons. He has been winner of numerous competitions in his country and has been named Revelation Dancer by the Clarín newspaper of Buenos Aires in 1999.
That same year, Mauricio Wainrot summoned him to the Ballet Contemporáneo del Teatro San Martín, where he specialized in different techniques of contemporary dance and worked as a soloist with choreographers such as Jean-Claude Gallota, David Parsons, Vasco Wellencamp, Nils Christie, Ginette Laurin,Tom Wiggers, John Wisman, Mark Godden, Serge Bennathan and Robert North, among others.
In 2002, he moved to Europe and took advanced courses in contemporary techniques in Lyon, Paris and Barcelona,
He worked for the Metros de Barcelona Company, directed by Ramón Oller, until 2003 when Nacho Duato hired him for the National Dance Company where he developed his work as a principal dancer until 2013.
Since joining the CND, he has worked with Nacho Duato,
Mats Ek, Wim Vandekeybus, William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián,
Orjan Anderson, Ohad Naharin, Itzik Galili, Angelin Preljocaj,
Johan Inger among others, both in creations and repertoire.
He has performed in the most important theaters and festivals such as Bolshoi in Moscow, Chatelet in Paris, Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Staatsoper of Berlin, Teatro Real of Madrid, Kennedy Center of Greece, International Sydney Festival, National Theater of China, Netherlands Dance Theater in The Hague, Miami International Festival, among others.
He has choreographed six choreographies for the choreographic workshop of the CND and different duets for international galas where he participates as a guest dancer.
He is the author of the Works “Consecuencias” and “Ira” premiered by La Mov, Compañia Aragonesa de Danza, resident in Zaragoza.
In 2010 Vladimir Malakhov summons him to tour around different countries and to present some of his duets in the Malakhov and Friends, also at the International Festival of Havana, where he received the Special Audience Award for his work “Mi pueblo, mi casa, la soledad…”.
At the CND under the direction of José Carlos Martínez, in 2012, the National Center of Musical Diffusion of Spain summons him to choreograph and stage
choreography and staging of the pedagogical project CNDM-OCDM-OCDM.
CNDM-OCNE pedagogical project called “SIMBIOSIS” together with the Orquesta
the National Orchestra of Spain, the National Choir and the CND,
with original music by David Del Puerto; in the same year he premieres of the piece “Ball and Chain” for the National Dance Company.
In 2013 he creates the show “Verdi que te quiero V.E.R.D.I.”
with the company REA Danza resident in Malaga.
He teaches Workshops in several professional conservatories in Spain and abroad. In 2014 he received the commissioned to direct “Dakishimeru-The Hugs”, premiered at the Cibeles Palace by CND, together with Berklee College of Music, Hisako Hiseki, College of Music, Hisako Hiseki, and the sculptor Miquel Navarro, commemorating the 200th anniversary of bilateral relations between Spain and Japan.
He has been the director and dance programmer of the Ciclo de Danza FIMA, Fundación Indaliana para la Música y las Artes de Almería since 2013. Also stage director and choreographer in “Orquestarium” for the 2016 season, concerts at the National Auditorium, with the National Orchestra and Choir of Spain.
He has collaborated with Alba Sintes in the show “No te Rindas”, premiered at the Teatro Orfeó Maonés with the musical group Cap Pela.Also as a dancer and choreographer with Renato Zanella in the show “Buscando Cervantes” (Looking for Cervantes) premiered in 2017 in Granada, later in the Festival of Oradea/Romania,, and which can still be seen on the stages of different cities.
In 2016 he creates ”Ira” for La Mov, in 2017 the solo “Black Rose” premiered by the CND at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, in 2018 and by commission he creates ”Buñuel del Deseo” together with the critic Roger Salas as artistic advisor, also for La Mov, Cía. Aragonesa de Danza at the Teatro Principal de Zaragoza.
Since 2015 and as a freelance artist, he has worked under the orders of important stage directors at the Teatro Real in Madrid
Real de Madrid such as Deborah Warner, Pierre Audi, Calixto Bieito, Álex Olló, Calixto and Bob Wilson, with the latter in the creation of the opera Turandot.
Since 2018, he has been involved in the organization and management, together with the association Manangelment and the dance school Alba Sintes, Sintes, of the Gala de Estrellas Fundació Rubió directed by Joaquín de Luz and premiered every year in Menorca and Mallorca.
In 2019 he embarks on the project “Neanderthal” with original music by Neønymus by original music by Neønymus, for which he received the first prize for Best Evening Show at the European Fair FETÉN, and with which he is currently touring throughout Spain.
